BAO advocates for all Buckeye Boating Families and the Dealers, Marinas and Service businesses that make up the Ohio Marine Industry.

from Lake Erie on the north to the mighty Ohio River on the south; advances measures that protect the health and viability of the state’s abundant lakes and rivers; and represents Ohio’s half-million boat-owning families that recreate on our waterways.


We monitor 24/7/365 every bill introduced in the Ohio General Assembly that could impact Ohio’s boating families and the marine industry, and notify all BAO members of any needed actions and timing. We also consistently review all proposed regulatory actions by all applicable administrative departments.

Public Safety

Education is the key to becoming a better, more knowledgeable boater and safely enjoying the boating lifestyle. BAO encourages all boaters to take a safe boating courses offered by any of the following expert organizations: United States Power Squadrons, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, American Sailing Association, BoatUS, and many local boating clubs.


Boaters are the original conservationists. Ohio is rich in waterways. It’s why one-half million Ohioans own a boat. Protecting and improving our lakes and rivers is our highest priority and we regularly bring important environmental issues to the attention of all BAO members.
